Abstract

PURPOSE: To treat waste water by nitrification with activated sludge under aerobic condition and denitrification with mechanical strirring by the procedure in which organic nitrogenous waste water is flowed into denitrification chamber and then circulated into nitrification chamber provided with a diffusing cylinder from an opening below partition wall by a circulating flow by means of mechanical stirring.
CONSTITUTION: Original waste water is removed its soild content and put in the storage tank 8, then transferred continuously to the denitrification chamber 6a of the denitrification tank 1 by the pump 9, and then stirred by the mechanical stirrer 5 so as to form a cirulating flow at the lower part and cirulated between the nitrification chambers 6b and 6c and the denitrification chamber 6a. In the nitrification chambers 6b and 6c, nitrification is made by aerobic microoganisms under aerobic condition by means of the diffusing cylinder 7, and also in the denitrification chamber 6a, denitrification is made by anaerobic microorganinsms with the aid of mechanical stirring and the treated water by clarification during a fixed residence time is passed through the nitrification chambers 6b and 6c and then discharged to the sedimentation tank 10. The treated water separated in the sedimentation tank 10 is sent to the receiving tank 11 and the precipitated sludge is sent back to the denitrification chamber 6a by the pump 12.
