Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title wire rod by adding Ti to a low or medium carbon steel wire rod.
CONSTITUTION: The steel wire rod consists of C 0.06W0.40%, Si 0.01W0.30%, Mn 0.30W0.90%, Ti 0.01W0.05%, and the balance Fe and inevitable impurities such as P and S≤0.30%. This rod is obtd. by hot rolling low or medium carbon steel followed by annealing and cold working if necessary. The addn. of Ti provides extremely superior cold workability, so the rod exhibits a very superior effect in manufacture of car parts, esp. hollow parts by extrusion.
