Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the detecting capacity of printed matters of different kinds by consecutively comparing the patterns of the surfaces of the printed matters to be judged with a standard pattern so that the percentage of inconsistency in the patterns may be obtained. CONSTITUTION:The surfaces of the printed matters to be detected are checked with the lights from the light source B of sensor A in accordance with the direction 1 or 2, and the reflected lights are received and detected by a photoelectric element C so that the detected output is subjected to A/D conversion at E and stored in a memory G. On the other hand, the data pattern of a standard printed matter is stored in advance in a memory F. And, the difference in the absolute values between the data of the memories F and G are consecutively calculated at H, and the differences are compared with a preset level I at J. When the preset level is higher, it is judged good, whereas when the preset level is lower it is judged no good. Then, the number of the no good judgements is counted at K, and the percentage of the no good number is calculated at L when the all the judging operations are finished so that the kinds of the printed matters can be judged.
