Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce FM noises due to the leakage of a phase-comparator reference signal frequency component to a VCO output frequency control terminal as to the output of modulus pre-scaler, by multiplying a delay circuit by N by an exclusive- OR circuit. CONSTITUTION:Between the voltage control variable frequency oscillator and variable dividers 8 and 9 in the PLL loop, N-multiplier B is provided. Then, N- multiplier B consists of delay circuit 11 which delays the output of two-modulus pre-scaler 7 by constant time and exclusive-OR circuit 12 which receives the outputs of two-modulus pre-scaler 7 and circuit 11 and generates an exclusive-OR output of two inputs. When the loop is in a synchronous state, the reference frequency of the phase comparator is N times and even if frequency characteristics of the damping factor of low-pass filter 4 are the same as before, the damping factor increases as high as the frequency becomes N times while FM noises lessen.
