Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure automatic, high-accuracy measurement of the oil concentration of emulsified liquid by utilizing the intensity of monochromatic diffused and absorbed lights with a specified wavelength. CONSTITUTION:The emulsified liquid to be measured in an emulsified liquid tank 1 is stirred by stirring balbes 2. A portion of said emulsified liquid is fed to a froth purge tank 4 by a water lift pump 3. The overflow of emulsified liquid is returned to said emulsified liquid tank 1. The emulsified liquid from which froth has been removed is passed through the light-diffusing flow cell 10 and a light absorbing flow cell 11 provided on an integrating sphere from the bottom section of said froth purge tank 4 by a constant flow pump 6. The monochromatic light from a light source 7 is applied on said integrating sphere 9 with a specified wave-length (generally visible light with 200-500mm) selected by a diffraction grating 8. The diffused and absorbed lights comes into a photomultiplier tube 12 after the repeated reflection thereof by the inner faces of said integrating sphere 9, and thus-obtained signal is fed to an output signal processor 13 for the conversion thereof into a concentration value by a metric line. Thus-obtained signal is fed to a recording meter 14. Thus, the oil concentration of emulsified liquid can be automatically measured with high accuracy.
