Abstract
PURPOSE:To accurately measure the concentration of BOD and SS, by using a regression straight line of COD concentration in which an absorbance of visible light is converted into 1.0. CONSTITUTION:A sample 15 is prepared by stirring and homogenizing a sample drainage 8 after making a low sludge content. A start signal 18 designated with various kinds of conditions of supply water, treating water etc. by an indication from a computer 16 is sent to a quantitative pump 19 and the sample 15 is sent to a pH measuring instrument 20 and a light absorbance measuring instrument 21. Data of pH and absorbance 22, 23 are stored in the computer 16 within a few minutes after starting a supply of water. The optimum quantity of sampling water is determined by a correlation diagram of the absorbance classified by pH and COD based on these data. Data of COD value 32 are obtained by sending this sampling water quantity assignment signal 28 and analysis start signal 29 to a quantitative pump 30 and COD analyzer 29 from the computer 16. Values of BOD and SS are computed by a prescribed regression straight line from a ratio of the COD value and absorbance.
