Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a beautiful transfer product of fresh color tone and high rigidity by laying one upon another a transfer sheet having specified colorant layer and an alkali agnet layer and a substrate onto which the colorant is to be transferred and then heating the assembly under pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A transfer sheet comprises a substrate sheet on which the following layers are formed; a layer including a binder (e.g. methyl cellulose, gelatin) and a colorant (e.g. Auramin, Malachite Green) which is relatively free from fusion, evaporation, sublimation, and the like due to heat and has relatively small tendency of thermal transfer onto other substrate; and a layer including a binder and 0.1 to 20 molar equivalent, per one molar equivalent of the colorant, of an alkali agent (e.g. NaOH, CaCO3) which enhances the thermal transfer property of the colorant. This transfer sheet is laid on a substrate (e.g. synthetic resin film, plywood) onto which the colorant is to be transferred, and the assembly is heated to a temperature of 80 to 250°C for 30 to 90 seconds under a pressure of 0.05 to 20 kg/cm2. Then the substrate sheet is stripped off to transfer the colorant onto the substrate onto which the colorant is to be transferred.
