Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a wear resistant steel by controlling hot rolling conditions and γ/α phase transformation temp. to perform component regulation so that the ferrite grain size is made fine and the pearlite area ratio is increased.
CONSTITUTION: The steel consists of C 0.20W0.30%, Si 0.85W1.50%, Mn 0.85W 1.50%, Cr 0.20W0.60%, V 0.05W0.15% and Fe the balance. It has a ferrite. pearlite structure composed of fine ferrite and pearlite with an area ratio above 30%. Since the steel of this invention exhibits superior wear resistance to earth and sand as rolled, it is suitable for use as a wear resistant steel for agricultural machinery, civil engineering and mining machinery, iron manufacturing and ceramic industry facilities, etc.
