Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the production of laminar segregation layer in intermediate layer by inoculating the suitable amount of Fe-Si or Ca-Si at the casting of intermediate molten steel and increasing the Gno after completion of intermediate casting up to the Gno at the outside shell casting.
CONSTITUTION: In casting the outside shell by high alloy grain material and casting the intermediate layer of high class cast iron, Fe-Si or Ca-Si is added as an inoculating agent to the molten steel of the intermediate layer at 0.1 to 0.35% as Si%. Thereby, the Gno of the intermediate layer molten steel is raised up to the Gno at the outside steel casting after completion of casting of said intermediate layer molten steel and the intermediate layer is cast under the same conditions when the outside shell has frozen. Thereby, the production of the laminar segregation layer in centrifugal casting is prevented. This Gno normally requires 90 to 150.
