Abstract

PURPOSE: Highly active and long life porous catalyst for hydrogenetion-desulfurization of heavy hydrocarbon oil is provided by making catalyst pore distribution narrow and specifying average pore diameter.
CONSTITUTION: Hydrogenation-desufurization process for heavy hydrocarbon oil uses catalyst of porous carrier suh as alumina carrying hydrogenation components. Such catalyst is specified to have very narrow pore distribution, average pore diameters ranging from 90Å to 130Å and nearly cylindrical form. Such catalyst prevents asphaltene, asphalt component in heavy hydrocarbon oil from entering catalyst pores and blocking them. Thus, highly active hydrogenation and desulfurization activity and long service life are offered.
