Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a catalyst of high hydrodesulfurizying and demetallizing effects for heavy oils by using porous active alumina having specific pore distributions and pore capacity as a carrier and depositing a specific catalytic metal.
CONSTITUTION: This is the hydrodesulfurizing and demetallizing catalyst for heavy oils of 100W350m2/g specific surface areas wherein periodic table VI B group such as Mo and VIII group metals such as Ni or Co are deposited in the form of their oxide or sulfide on a carrier of porous alumina. This is the porous catalyst having the pore distributions wherein the pores of 37.5W75,000Å radii are 0.5W1.5cc/g, ≥90% out of the pore capacity is 37.5W500Å radii and the pores have definite peaks at the parts of 50W100Å and 100W500Å radii, and having 0.4W0.8cc/g pore capacities of 37.5W100Å and 0.2W0.5cc/g 100W500Å radii.
