Abstract

PURPOSE: To automate the operation of a cooling tower by determining the cooling draft amount and the hot-water pump-up amount by a target cooling-water temperature and the wet-bulb temperature of the outside air or the hot-water flow rate and the hot-water temperature and correcting the cooling draft amount and the hot- water pump-up amount by the deviation of the cooling-water temperature after cooling from the targer cooling-water temperature.
CONSTITUTION: Detectors 5 and 4 detect the hot-water flow rate L and the water temperature tw1 continuously, while a wet-bulb temperature detector 6 detects the outside-air wet-bulb temperature t'1. These detection values L, tw1, and t'1 are fed to a draft amount computing circuit 9, which computes the required draft amount G from the detection values and a target cooling-water temperature twsoll which is obtained from the water-air ratio and fed to the circuit 9 separately from the detection values. The cooling-water temperature tw2 after cooling is detected by detector 7, the deviation of the temperature tw2 from the temperature twsoll is adjusted in level by an amplifier, and the required draft amount G computed by the circuit 9 is corrected. Based on the corrected value, the revolution rate and the number of operated units of cooling fans 2 are determined.
