Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent moisture condensation in a catalytic oxidation unit so as to deodorize efficiently, by cooling washing water at the preceding stop in such a degree that the difference between the temp. of water-washed gas and that of wall of the catalytic oxidation unit or the atmospheric temp. may be constant.
CONSTITUTION: Into a gas to be treated having been discharged from an exhauster 1 is injected ozone generated by an ozonizer 2, then the gas is introduced into a washing tower 3 packed with packing 4. Washing water contained in a reservoir 7 is cooled by cooling medium delivered from a cooler 20 to a cooling means 22 by the operation of a controller 28 which operates according to the difference between the temp. given by a demp. detector 27 attached at the outlet of the tower 3 and the temp. given by a temp. detector 26 installed in a catalytic oxidation unit 6 or the atmospheric temp. in order to make constant the temp. difference between the temp. of the water-washed gas and the temp. of the wall of the unit 6 or of the atmosphere. The washing water is sprayed through spray nozzles 12 to remove malodorous components. The gas to be treated which is liberated of its malodorous components is introduced through a demister 5 to the unit 6.
