Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce exposure time or exposure per unit time to a great degree to enable the fluorescent screen of a color picture tube to be easily formed, by adding organic dyes, preferably fluorescent dyes to a photosensitive composition containing an aromatic diazonium salt. CONSTITUTION:Photosensitive composition thin layer 2 containing an aromatic diazonium salt and an organic dye, such as eosin Y by 5% by weight or less based on the salt is formed on the inner face of panel 1 of a color picture tube. Thin layer 2 is irradiated by ultraviolet rays through the holes of a shadow mask to produce a substance capable of receiving powder by photodecompostion of the diazonium salt. On this thin layer 2 surface, fluorescent particles are strewed, resulting in attaching the particles only onto the portions exposed directly by the ultraviolet rays. The rest of particles are removed by means of air blowing or the like, and in such a manner the first fluorescent coat layer, e.g. a green fluorescent coat layer 3, and likewise, blue and red fluorescent coat layers 4 and 5 are formed each in the positions on which elecrron beams impinge to permit each layer to emit each fluorescent light.
