Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the contrast by providing the filters which transmits the light emitted from some fluorescent substances but absorb the light emitted from other fluorescent substances onto the inner surface of the face plate of the cathode-ray tube into the dot or stripe formation and then coating each fluorescent substance over the filters.
CONSTITUTION: Red filter layer 11R which transmits only the light emitted from the red fluorescent substance, green filter layer 11G transmitting only the light from the green fluorescent substance and blue filter layer 11B transmitting only the light from the blue fluorescent substance are provided close to each other and with no mutual overlap onto the inner circumference surface of face plate glass 1 of the cathode-ray tube. Then red fluorescent layer 12R, green fluorescent substance layer 12G and blue fluorescent layer 12B are coated over layer 11R, 11G and 11B respectively, and Fl reflector film 5 is formed on these layers. In such constitution, the contrast can be increased by 3/T-times with no reduction of the brightness when the glass transmittance is set to T.
