Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the desired high-purity compound for use an intermediate of a corresponding cephalosporin compound of a thiol compound in a high yield through an industrially ready process, by the 3-position conversion reaction of a compound with the thiol compound in an organic solvent in the presence of an acid or an acid complex compound.
CONSTITUTION: A compound shown by the formula I (R1 is H or alkoxy; R2 is NH2 or amino-protecting group; X is acyloxy or carbamoyloxy; Y is -O- or -CH2-; the dotted line is the ring is a double bond between 2- and 3-positions or 3- and 4-positions), its derivative at the position of carboxyl group, or its salt, is reacted with a compound shown by the formula II (R3 is an organic group, e.g., alkyl) or its salt in an organic solvent preferably in an anhydrous state in the presence of not less than an equimolar amount of an acid or an acid complex compound, e.g., trifluoroboric acid or diethyl ether complex salt, based on the compound shown by the formula I, to prepare the desired compound shown by the formula II, its derivative wherein the carboxyl group is replaced, or its salt.
