Abstract

PURPOSE: To make filling work smoother and stabler by maintaining space while molten metal is moving in a sleeve and pressing the molten metal from the start of filling.
CONSTITUTION: Space is maintained between the head M1 of the molten metal M poured into a sleeve 4 and the top end opening 4a of a sleeve 4. A plunger piston 8 is lowered to lower a counter piston 6 in the state where the space S exists. The counter piston 6 stops when its pressure receiving face 6a becomes flush with the bottom end of the running opening 5 but the descending of the plunger piston 8 is continued and the air between the pressing face 8a and head M1 is exhausted to the outside through the clearance between the piston 8 and sleeve 4. As a result, the pressing face 8a makes contact to M1 and the molten metal is pressed and is pressure filled in the cavity through the opening 5 and runner 3. Thereby, the occurrence of freezing, crust, etc. on the circumferential wall part of the sleeve 4 is prevented.
