Abstract

CONSTITUTION: The voltage-current characteristic and non-load saturation characteristic of the main AC generator 1 of the diesel electric locomotive are shown by a curve P or Q and the planing value is done by a curve R. When the characteristic is shown by the curve P, the voltage is higer than the planing value. In this case, when the second field winding 9 is connected in reverse polarity with respect to the first field winding 7 and the variable resistance 10 is adjusted, the charactiristic of generator can be agreed with the planing value. Thus an overvoltate is not produced in the generator when the load is opened, the diode of the rectifier 3 is protected. When the characteristic is shown by the curve Q, the field winding 9 can be connected in the same polarity with respect to the winding 7 and the resistance can be adjusted. By this way, the production of overvoltage can surely be prevented in a trouble.
