Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an SCR control unit which features the shortest time from occurrence of the cut-off command of both AC and DC sides to formation of the by-pass pair.
CONSTITUTION: Ignition control unit 10 discontinues generation of the gate pulse simultaneously with the cut-off command, and circuit 13 generates the gate shift signal via cut-off pulse generator 12 to deliver only the pulse supplied first and to block other pulses. Accordingly, pulse transformer 11 delivers only one pulse to VN pole after generation of the cut-off command. In this case, if inductive load 8 is in the reverse voltage region, VN-phase element 6 conducts easily. Thus, VP-phase element 3 and element 6 are turned on, and others are all turned off. However, if the ignition control angle is less than 60°, gate suppress signal 14 is supplied to unit 10 and gate shifts is commanded (15) to have a control in order to secure the region where the reverse voltage is applied to load 8. Thus, the AC side of the rectifier can be cut off in a short time.
