Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the adherence between a sprayed layer and a base metal by forming the layer on the metal surface with metal powder and by irradiating a high energy density heat source to alloy the layer and the base metal by heating. CONSTITUTION:Moving body 4 provided with torch 2 for spraying and torch 3 for alloying is set above base metal 1 to be sprayed. Driving part 5 of body 4 is moved forward along guide rod 6. At the same time, metal powder is sprayed from plasma jet torch 2 to form sprayed metal layer 7, which is then irradiation-heated with high energy density heat source torch 3 such as plasma, electron beam or laser beam torch set leaving a fixed space. Sprayed metal 7 is alloyed with base metal 1, thus remarkably enhancing the adherence between them.
