Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform effectively solid-liquid separation by coagulating suspension by using an oil-in-water type emulsion obtained by mixing naphthenic acid with an amine series surfactant and a water-soluble acid.
CONSTITUTION: 100 wt parts of naphthenic acid, 20 to 150 wt parts of an amine series surfactant, e.g., semi-fatty amine, etc., and a water-soluble acid, e.g., hydrochloric acid, acetic acid, etc., in a quantity enough to neutralize amine surfactant serving as an emulsifying agent, together with a water-soluble salt as needed, are mixed together by a homomixer, etc., to obtain an oil-in-water type emulsion as a coagulating agent. The coagulating agent is added to a hard-to-coagulate suspension containing organic suspensions in a proportion of 0.1 to 20 wt% in terms of the nonvolatile content of the coagulating agent of the basis of the solid content of suspension. Then, suspensions present in liquid are changed into flocs which are, in turn, separated by a solid-liquid separation.
