Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain transparent purified water easily by a method wherein the pH of a waste liquid containing a surface active agent is adjusted to a specific pH value and, thereafter, treated by an anionic exchange liquid and, subsequently, the obtained water phase is subjected to the flocculating and precipitating treatment.
CONSTITUTION: Within a pH adjusting tank, an acid (sulfuric acid, hydrogen chloride or the like) is added to a waste liquid containing a surface active agent to adjust the pH to below 2 as well as break a portion of an emulsion and the floated oil component is separated and removed. Subsequently, an anionic exchange liquid dissolved in an org. solvent substantially immisible with water is added and mixed in an amount of about 5W50vol% and, after freely stood, the said mixed liquid is separated into an org. solvent (an upper layer) and an oil layer (a lower layer) containing an anionic exchange liquid and an oil component. To the obtained water phase, an alkaline substance is added to adjust the pH thereof to 6W8 and, moreover, a flocculating agent is added to flocculate as well as precipitate polluting substances and purified water is obtained. As an anionic exchange liquid used in the above described procedure, is preferred a solution containing an amine having 10W 18C aliphatic group insoluble in water and soluble in an org. solvent.
