Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture the titled product free from pinholes and having superior transparency and superior efflorescence resistance by forming specified two kinds of siliceous films on a substrate.
CONSTITUTION: A 1W30wt% aqueous soln. (A) of modified sodium silicate is prepared by dissolving sodium silicate of formula I (where x is 0.5 or more and y is 0 or an integer) and a modifier consisting of one or more among the phosphates, the borates and the aluminates of the 1a group alkali metals in the periodic table so that the modifier becomes 1W30mol as oxide to 100mol of SiO2 in the resulting siliceous film. The soln. (A) is coated onto a substrate such as an Al plate or a glass plate, dried at 50W100°C, and subjected to primary baking at 100W200°C and secondary baking at 200W400°C, forming the first siliceous film. An aqueous soln. (B) of modified lithium silicate prepared by dissolving lithium silicate and the same modifier as mentioned above is then coated onto the first film, dried, and baked under the same conditions as mentioned above, forming the second siliceous film.
