Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a high-bulk density polyethylene in the presence of two kinds of catalyst, namely, an organoaluminum compound and a highly active catalyst prepared by carrying a titanium halide in the presence of an alkoxy-containing silicon compound following treatment of MgCl2 with a halogen-containing titanium compound and an alcohol.
CONSTITUTION: The objective polyethylene can be obtained in the presence of two kinds of catalysts: (A) a solid material prepared by reaction, with a titanium halide (e.g. TiCl4), in the presence of an alkoxycontg. Silicon compound of formula XmSi(OR)4-m (X is halogen; R is 1W4C alkyl; m is 0W3), e.g. Cl3SiOCH3, of a solid product formed by treatment of MgCl2 with (a) 0.1W2 molar times of a halogen-contg, titanium compound, for example, a halogenated titanium alkoxide of formula XnTi(OR)4-n (X is halogen; R is 1W4C alkyl; n is 1W4) (e.g. CH3 OTiCl2) or a titanium tetrahalide, e.g. TiCl4, and (b) ≥0.1 molar times of an alcohol and (B) an organoaluminum compound.
