Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve efficient removal of ions only and continuous regeneration by a method wherein an endless ion-exchange resin membrane is moved through liquid suspension, then the resin membrane contaminated with suspended subtances is washed with water, and then is passed through regeneration liquid.
CONSTITUTION: An endless ion exchange membrane 13 is passed through suspension 12 in a liquid suspension tank 11 so that the membrane 13 removes only ions from the liquid 12. Because the membrane 13 moves through the liquid 12 continuously without stopping, suspended substances in the liquid 12 is prevented from accumulating on the both surfaces of the membrane 13. Only small amount of suspended substances deposited on the membrane 13 is cleaned with water, then the membrane 13 is sent into regenerating liquid 24 for the membrane 25 to be regenerated so as to effect regeneration of the membrane. Then, the membrane is cleaned with ejected 21 water. After cleaning, the membrane is again sent into the liquid 12 in the tank 11 to perform ion exchange. Thus, by the continuous ion exchange and regeneration of the membrane 13 efficient ion-exchange operation is provided.
