Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform continuous and efficient ion removal by a method wherein an endless ion-exchange belt is transferred and circulated through liquid suspension to conduct water-washing of the belt contaminated with suspended material and is followed by regeneration in a regeneration tank.
CONSTITUTION: Liquids 12 suspension in a liquid suspension tank 11 is brought into contact with an endless ion-exchange belt 13 contg. sandwitched ion-exchange resin particles and moving in this liquid, so that only ions are removed from the liquid 12. Then, ejected 19 cleaning water is used to clean the belt 13 contaminated with suspended material while moving through the liquid 12. Next, the belt 13 is regenerated by regenerating liquid 24 in a tank 23, then washed again with ejected water 21. After cleaning, the belt 13 is sent into the liquid 12 in the tank 11 to perform ion-exchange operation. In this manner, the belt 13 is continuously regenerated and performs efficient ion-exchange operation.
