Abstract
1504384 Ion-exchange ASAHI KASEI KOGYO KK 2 Sept 1975 [9 Sept 1974] 36101/75 Heading B1J An ion exchange process for treatment of a fluid comprises passing a fluid to be treated in one direction through a treatment zone packed with ion exchange resin particles, regenerating the ion exchange resin particles on depletion in activity by passing a solution of regenerant through said treatment zone in opposite direction to the fluid to be treated and subjecting the contaminated ion exchange resin particles to a washing treatment in a washing zone which is provided separately from said treatment zone, wherein said washing treatment is conducted by removing contaminated resin from an outlet provided at one end of said treatment zone to transport the contaminated resin into said washing zone and wash the transported resin therein, and thereafter returning the washed resin to said treatment zone from an inlet provided at the opposite end of said treatment zone from said outlet until all the ion exchange resin particles in said treatment zone have been washed. The removal of particles may be either continuous or portionwise. The fluid to be treated flows upwards, the regenerant downwards, in vertical columns.
