Abstract
PURPOSE:To subject a branch pipe to Y-type edge preparation and improve working efficiency by providing a roller which advances at all times in the cutting direction based on the intersecting line of pipe and letting an edge working torch follow up the turning motion of the roller in synchronization with the same at a fixed groove angle. CONSTITUTION:A guide roller 31 is placed at the top end of the pipe 7 on turning rolls 3. Next, the edge working torch 41 of the torch 39 near the roller 31 is set at a fixed groove angle with respect to a cutting torch 40. Thence, the pipe 7 is preheated by the torch 39 and is rotated in the arrow A direction by the rolls 3. At this time, a timer drive unit 16 moves a carrier 17 in the arrow C, D directions in synchronization with the intersecting line according to the revolution of the pipe 7. Then, by the existence of offset L between the roller 31 being supported by the carrier 17 and axial center 27a, the advancing direction of the roller 31 is maintained always in the composite direction of the revolving direction of the pipe and moving direction of the carrier, that is, in the cutting direction based on the intersecting line of the cutting torch 40. The turning motion of the roller 31 causes the edge preparation torch 41 to turn at the set groove angle by way of a gear 33, shaft 35 and gears 47, 43.
