Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a titled equipment which can easily and accurately engage the tooth-form roll with the mandrel, by constituting the equipment in such a way that the grooving is performed on the whole periphery of metallic pipes by revolving and rotating the tooth-form roll after the tooth-form roll is engaged with the mandrel with the mtallic pipe in-between.
CONSTITUTION: A tooth form roll 20 is retreated from a mandrel 12 by driving a tooth-form roll advancing-retreating mechanism 38 and by moving a slide block 44 rightward. Then, a hollow shaft 28 is fixed by driving a positioning mechanism 48 and the roll 20 is positioned just above the mandrel 12. Moreover, after teeth 20a of the roll 20 are opposed to a groove 12a of the mandrel 12 by operating a groove fitting mechanism 56, a metallic pipe 1 is fitted to the mandrel 12 through the shaft 28. Then, the roll 20 is engaged with the mandrel 12 with the pipe 1 in-between by moving the block 44 leftward by driving the mechanism 38. After that, mechanism 48 and 56 are released and a rotating means 22 is driven 30, and then, the grooving work is performed on the whole periphery of the pipe 1 and the pipe 1 is moved in the direction of the length by gradually pulling the pipe 1 rightward with an appropriate means while the rotation of the pipe 1 is restrained.
