Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform the salt-to-fresh water conversion readily and inexpensively by sinking the reverse osmosis modules having reverse osmosis membranes into the sea water of the specific depth, communicating the permeating water side to the atmosphere and letting reverse osmosis be done by water pressure. CONSTITUTION:The tubular reverse osmosis modules 1 having reverse osmosis membranes are mounted in multiplicity to the lower end portion at water depth 250m or more of the atmospheric communicating and water collecting pipe 1 supported to the frame work 10 installed to the sea bottom G and a water well 12 is disposed to the bottom lower of the pipe 11. The pump 13 provided in the water well 12 is connected to the water feed pipe 14 communicating with the water storage tank (not illustrated) on the ground. The sea water permeates through the modules 1 under water pressure, whereby it is desalted to fresh water. This desalted water is accumulated in the water well 12 through the water collecting pipe 11. The collected freshed water is transported by a pump 13 to a desired place through the water feed pipe 14.
