Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain stable timing pulses even if any dust and the like are produced on the correcting slit by making the sectional shape of the correcting laser beam lognitudinally long in the direction nearly perpendicular to the scanning direction of the laser beam.
CONSTITUTION: In the optical system for correcting scanner, a cylindrical lens 28 of, for example, focal length 700mm is disposed between a focusing lens 23 and galva mirror 24. Disposing the main axis of said lens 28 in the direction perpendicular to the beam deflecting face by the galva mirror 24 makes the beam spot produced in a correcting slit 25 slender and lets it be intensity-modulated according to the slit. This beam is then made to an electric signal by a photo detector 27. Now, if it is assumed that the slit width of the correcting slit 25 is 40μm, the beam spot 30 becomes 40μm in the scanning direction A and 300μm in the direction perpendicular to A. The electric signal obtainable from the photo detector does not become 0 even if dust 32 exists and therefore the effect of the dust may be eliminated and the stable timing pulses obtained by performing waveform shaping.
