Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to effect the highly accurate focusing operation by inserting a parallel glass plate into an incoming optical path so that the location of a lens may be controlled to eliminate an image of interference fringe.
CONSTITUTION: A modulated parallel incident laser beam 1 has a preset thickness and passes through a parallel glass plate 2, which is positioned at 45 degrees with respect to the incident light. The laser beam 1 having passed is focused upon a recording carrier 6 by means of a lens 5 and then is reflected from the both sides of the glass plate 2 so that an image of interference fringe is formed upon a focal plane 3. The incident beam is then reflected upon the recording carrier 6 into a reflected beam 7 and further upon the glass plate 2 to form a similar interference firnge upon a focal plane 8. By adjusting the DC component of the current to be fed to a voice coil 9, the spacing between the lens 5 and the recording carrier 6 is adjusted so that control is made to eliminate the interference fringe upon the focal plane 8 thereby to obtain the correct focal point.
