Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve side cut resistance of a tire by providing a tire with a side reinforcing ply which has a cord of organic fibers, a curled wire, a wire cord or the like inserted in a polybutadiene rubber or a blended rubber thereof of a predetermined microcrystalline structure.
CONSTITUTION: A side reinforcing ply 5 is provided on the outer side of an outermost ply of a carcass 1. The side reinforcing ply 5 is formed by a cord of organic fibers, a curled wire, a wire cord or the like which are all inserted in a rubber composition consisting principally of a block or graft polymer of cis-1,4-polybutadiene and syn-1,2-polybutadiene or a blended rubber of natural rubber or a diene- type rubber containing the polymer 10wt% or more therein. The polymer contains 6W20wt% of a microcrystalline syn-1,2-structure, and 40wt% or more thereof is crystalline. The polymer is further in short filaments having the average diameter of 0.05W1μm and the average length of 0.8W10μm. The side reinforcing ply 5 of the design thus improves side cut resistance of the tire.
