Abstract

PURPOSE: To continuously discharge the drain in a vacuum piping into the air in a vacuum for protecting the vacuum pump of a condenser from freezing by providing the first and second drain tanks and a vacuum connection pipe for them, together with an air inlet pipe connected to the second drain tank.
CONSTITUTION: When the vacuum pump 12 operates to extract air in the condenser 11, drain produced in an air extraction pipe 13 flows down through a drain piping 14 through a drain remove funnel 13a. At this time, only a vacuum connection valve 20 is opened, and the other valves are closed, so that the drain flowing down through the drain piping 14 gathers in the first drain tank 15. When the water level in the first drain tank 15 reaches a fixed position, a connection valve 17 is opened in order to allow the drain in the first drain tank 15 to flow down into the second drain tank 16. When the drain has flowed down into the second drain tank 16, the vacuum connection valve 20 and the connection valve 17 are closed, and a drain discharge valve 18 and an air inlet valve 22 are opened, so that the second drain tank 16 returns to the state of atmospheric pressure, and the drain in it discharged.
