Abstract

PURPOSE:To prolong the service life through increased resistances to the corrosion, heat and abrasion by a method wherein the surface of cast member, pad member or sintered member formed with stellite is coated with a specified thickness layer of Ti carbide (oxide, or nitride). CONSTITUTION:The surface of cast member, pad member or sintered member formed with stellite is coated with a 1-20mum mono (or multi) layer consisting of single member or solid solution of two or more of TiC, Ti3N4 or TiO2. Or further, the coated layer is coated with a surface layer of Al2O3 in thickness of 0.2-10mum. In this method, the properties of stellite (high hardness and strength at a high temperature and high corrosion resistance) is retained and the resistance to corrosion, heat, and abrasion is further increased so that the long service life is provided.
