Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture the composite member for continuous casting excellent in wear resistance and thermal impact resistance by coating the member surface with the build-up layer consisting of a Ni base metal matrix and carbide ceramic particle dispersed phase. CONSTITUTION:The member surface is coated with the build-up layer having the compound structure composed of a metal matrix and the ceramic particle of a dispersed phase to manufacture the composite member for continuous casting. At this time the metal matrix is taken to be of the structure consisting of 15-18% Cr, 16-18% Mo, 3.5-5.5% W, 4.5-7% Fe, <=2.5% Co, <=1% Si, <=1% Mn, <=0.15% C and the balance Ni actually. The ceramic particle is taken of carbide ceramic particle (Cr3C2, TiC, VC, etc.), its grain size about 50-200mum, the percentage occupied in the compound structure is taken 20-70wt.% and the thickness of the build-up layer is enough in about 1-5mm. The composite member suitable for a pinch roll, guide roll, etc., is thus obtd.
