Abstract

PURPOSE: To omit complicated pipings that have been required for supplying secondary air to an engine having two exhaust valves, by forming in cylinder head a passage for supplying secondary air required for purifying exhaust gas, and forming secondary-air outlet ports between opposite exhaust ports.
CONSTITUTION: At the joint of cylinder head 13 and cylinder 11, there is formed a chamber 22 having stopper valve 21 disposed on partition plate 24, and atmospheric air is introduced into the chamber 22. Further, secondary-air passage 31 communicated to the chamber 22 is formed at a lower portion of head 13, in the manner that it is extended from chamber 22 to the opoosite side of cylinder head 13. At the portion of cylinder head 13 located on the opposite side of chamber 22, there are formed two exhaust ports 4, 4, between which passage 20 communicated to passage 31 is formed. The passage 20 is further communicated to ports 4, 4 via secondary- air outlet ports 30, 30. With such an arrangement, secondary air can be drawn into cylinder by utilizing pulsation of exhaust gas.
