Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an apparatus having a simple construction for purifying exhaust gas in an internal combustion engine, in which apparatus the distribution difference would not occur, by forming a distributing communication passage for supply exhaust system secondary air in a cylinder head cover.
CONSTITUTION: The exhaust system secondary air from an air cleaner passes via negative pressure control valve, a pipe 39, and right and left distributing pipes 34 for a cylinder array into each distributing passage 30 in the cylinder head cover 18, and after it enters a lead valve 27 provided to each cylinder through a bore 40, it is supplied from a passage 44 into an exhaust port 6. Thus, as the distributing passage 30 is previously formed in the cylinder head, a precise passage is provided with a construction simpler than conventional pipings, and therefore distribution difference of the secondary air to every cylinder would not occur.
