Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent varnish in an armature winding from flowing out for improving its insulation characteristic by reducing the height of the U-shaped insulator in the slot by a specified ratio, and expanding an expansion member placed between the insulator and the slot bottom, before performing varnish impregnation. CONSTITUTION:The height (B) of an U-shaped insulator 3 in the slot is made 10%-40% shorter than the height (A) of the slot shoulder. A sheet of thermal expansion member 6 is placed between the insulator 3 and the slot bottom 2b. After random coils 4 are mounted, the expansion member 6 is expanded in the preliminary drying process of the ion core in order to push up the random coils 4 to the slot opening 2a side. Then, the slot 2 is impregnated with varnish to fill up space 7. Thus, the reduced space 7 prevents varnish from flowing out, so that the insulation characteristic can be improved. In addition, the reduced leakage magnetic-flux permits leakage reactance to be smaller, so that the electrical characteristic can be improved.
