Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce running cost of water filtering operation by a method wherein raw water is fed with auxiliary filter agent which has been recovered, and is filtered by filter member having auxiliary new and added auxiliary filter agent, then at the time when the filtering rate has decreased to a specified value, filter sludge is scraped, and recovered and added auxiliary filter agent is again recovered and used.
CONSTITUTION: A layered unit filter body 1 contains filter bodies 2 having additional filter agent 11 on membrane 10 precoated with filter agent such as kieselguhr, raw water inlets 5, and a center rotary shaft 7 having filter-sludge scraper plate and filter sludge discharge pipes 8. Raw water body fed with recovered additional auxiliary agent is filtered and when the filtering rate has reduced to a predetermined value, the rotary shaft 7 is rotated for about one minute to scrape off part of the added auxiliary layer, which is discharged by pump 14 to the outside and is recovered for reuse. The scraping position is lowered at each time of the operation until it reaches the predetermined position. Then the scraper plate is returned to the position a, and new auxiliary filter agent 11 is added up to the position a. This eliminates the need for backwash and provides a filter capacity twice that of the conventional method.
