Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out continuously filtration for a prolnged period by forming a plurality of filtering chambers, providing an overflow part at the upper end of each filtering chamber and switching automatically in sequence filtering chambers when clogging occurs.

CONSTITUTION: Feed water flows through a feed water inflow pipe 7 into a first filtering chamber 3a, and is filtered off by means of a filter 2a arranged between the first chamber 3a and an adjacent chamber 3b, to remove sludge floc, etc. Further, the feed water is passed the remaining filters 2 without filtering, introduced from a filtered water outflow weir 4 into a filtered water tank 5, and discharged through a filtered water outflow pipe 6. When the filteration is continued, the blockade of the filter 2a will occurs due to sludge floc in feed water, and water level of a filtering chamber 3a is risen. When the resistance to filtration approaches the limit, the feed water overflows a feed water overflow weir 9 into a next filtering chamber 3b. The feed water is filtered off similarly by a filter 2b, and the filtered water flows into a filtering chamber 3C. The filtered water is passed the remaining filters 2 without filtering, introduced into the filtered water tank 5, and discharged from the pipe 6.
