Abstract

PURPOSE: To stabilize the cooling at the low cooling capacity region which has been considered difficult according to the conventional method, and to prevent the deterioration of the quality, by injecting the mixture of water and steam from the injection nozzle, in case of the heat treatment for the steel material by water cooling.
CONSTITUTION: In case of the heat treatment for the steel material using the dual fluid (air and water) injection nozzle 10 of the conventional method, which is inapplicable because of its unstableness in the cooling capacity under the condition that the air pressure is lower than 0.5kg/cm2, the steam instead of air is introduced into the air supply chamber 14, and the water and steam are injected from the injection nozzle 18. Hereby, when the steel material is cooled to 800W 500°C, the time for cooling is 50 seconds by the conventional method, however, this method can extend the minimum cooling capacity so as to continue the cooling for about 80 seconds. As a result, the cooling at a low cooling capacity region, which is unstable by the conventional dual fluid nozzle, is stabilized.
