Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain title resin, usuful as a desulfurizing agent for waste gas, by oxidation of a specified resin obtained by the reaction of hydroquinone, a multifunctional amine and formalin.
CONSTITUTION: (i) A hydroquinone of formula I (wherein R1W2 is H or 1W3C alkyl), (ii) a multifunctional amine (salts) such as a primary diamine of formula II (wherein R7 is 1W10C alkylene) or a diamine of formula III [wherein R9 is 1W3C alkyl: R8 is 1W10C (amino)alkyl, etc.], (iii) formalin or paraformaldehyde, (iv) a primary monoamine of formula R3NH2 (wherein R3 is 1W3C alkyl, benzyl), etc., are reacted at 0W100°C, in the absence or presence of an acid catalyst, and the obtained hydroquinone-type redox resin of formula (IV) (wherein [A] is -R3N-, etc.; formula V is >N-R7-N<, -R9N-R8-N<, etc.) is oxidized in the presence of an alkali, to obtain the quinone-type redox resin.
