Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve wave dissipating effect especially in the area of short wave length by a method wherein the move of the sea water for the ballast is restricted by a cut off plate vertically placed on a ballast tank.
CONSTITUTION: A ballast tank 4 consists of a pair of floats 2, 2, side plates 3a and a bottom plate 3 and moors at the sea bottom 7 by means of ropes 9. the inside of this ballast tank 4 is not only divided into multiple small chambers by a cut-off plate 6 but the sea water for the ballast is put in the ballast tank 4. The cut-off plate 6 restricts the move of the sea water to improve wave dissipating effect and as a result, the incident wave with a high wave height shown in the arrow is dissipated by a floating wave dissipater 1 into a passing wave with a low wave height. Moreover, a plurality of cut off plates 6 may be prepared, their tops may be protruded onto the free surface of the ballast sea water or porous plates may be used as cut- off plates 6.
