Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture an Al alloy conductor with superior strength, ductility, heat resistance and electric conductivity by drawing an Al alloy contg. a small amount of Zr, Fe, Cu, Mg and Si under specified conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A molten Al alloy contg., by wt., Zr 0.05W0.3%, Fe 0.1W1.0%, Cu 0.01W0.2%, Mg 0.01W0.2% and Si 0.05W0.3% is continuous-cast and quenched to prevent the elute elements from precipitating coarsely, and immediately it is hot rolled to a rough wire. In this case a group of hot rolling mill rolls are separated into two groups and the material surface temp. is adjusted to 320W420°C during the former group and the latter group, respectively. The rough wire is coiled and drawn at a lubricating oil temp. of 100°C or below to manufacture an Al alloy conducting wire. Thus, by drawing at such a relatively low temp. a lowering in ductility in ductility and deformation workability is prevented.
