Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a triplex tube by inserting an intermediate tube member into a thermally expanded outer tube member relative thereto, and an inner tube member into the intermediate tube member, applying a tube expanding pressure to the interior of the inner tube member to expand the inner tubular member and fix the same to the outer tubular member via the intermediate tube member, and then subjecting the outer tubular member to thermal contraction and the inner tubular member to thermal expansion.
CONSTITUTION: A triplex tube consists of outer and inner stainless steel tube members 1, 3 and an intermediate carbon steel tube member 2. The tube members 1, 2, 3 have the respective initial outer and inner diameters D1, D1', D2, D2', D3, D3'. The yield point of the tube member 1 is higher than that of the tube member 2, and the yield point of the tube member 2 is higher than that of the tube member 3. The relation in diameters between the tube members 1, 2, 3 is D1>D1' >D2> D2'>D3>D3'. A tube expanding pressure is then applied to the interior of the inner tube member 3 as the inner and outer tube members 3, 1 are relatively superposed on the inner and outer surfaces of the intermediate tube member 2, to expand the inner tube member 3. After the inner tube member 3 has thus been fixed to the intermediate tube member 2 or to the outer tube member 1 via the intermediate tube member 2, the tube expanding pressure is released. The outer and inner tube members 1, 3 are then subjected to a cooling-contracting step and a heating- expanding step, respectively to combine the tube members 1, 2, 3 together. As a reuslt, a triplex tube used for oil-drilling can be obtained.
