Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform the solvent extraction of U effectively in the manufacturing process of crude phosphoric acid in which rock phosphate is decomposed by sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid by a means in which U is transferred to and dissolved in the portion where the concentration of phosphoric acid is low.
CONSTITUTION: The rock phosphate powder 1 is mixed with the acid 3 for decomposition in the premixer 2, and the partially slurried phosphoric acid-lime mixture is sent to the decomposition tank 4 to which is added sulfuric acid. After the decomposition, the slurry is cooled 6, and filtered by the filter 7 to obtain hemihydrate gypsum and also to recover the product phosphoric acid 8. On the other hand, the hemihydrate gypsum cake is washed with residual U-extraction solution from the pipe 13, and the filtrate 9 is sent to the decomposition process of rock phosphate. Then, the hemihydrate gypsum is converted into gypsum dihydrate by means of the filtrate 18 form the filter 10 for gypsum dihydrate and the sulfuric acid 12 in the hydration tank 11. The slurry 15 after the hydration is filtered by the filter 10 and then washed with the (warm) water 16 to obtain the product 17 of gypsum dihydrate. Then, a part 22 of the filtrat 21 is sent to the concentration regulation process of phosphoric acid for hydration and the rest 14 are used in washing the hemihydrate gypsum. However, prior to the washing, it is subjected to a U-extraction treatment in the extractor 19 to recover U from the line 20.
