Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare high-purity phosphoric acid, by mixing a phosphate rock with a mineral acid of given concentation previously to elute the phosphorus content, removing the mineral acid from the resultant solution containing the phosphorus content, and concentrating the solution.
CONSTITUTION: A phosphate rock is mixed with an aqueous solution of a minearl acid, e.g. sulfuric acid of concentration ≤30wt%, to elute the phosphorus content with the minimized elution of impurities consisting of Fe and Al essentially. The mixture is then filtered to remove the undecomposed rock, and the mineral acid is removed from the resultant eluate containing the phosphorus. The purified eluate is then concentrated to give phosphoric acid. According to the method, the phosphoric acid with a high phosphorus content and low contents of Fe and Al can be obtained.
