Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively cool pulleys and a belt, by providing blades on the discs of the pulleys, covering the blades with a casing and rotating the blades to discharge cooling air introduced into the casing.
CONSTITUTION: A belt type motive power transmission unit comprises a driving variable pulley 20 including a fixed pulley 20a and a sliding pulley 20b and mounted with a fixation ring 24 on an input shaft 15, a driven movable pulley 40 including a fixed pulley 40a and a sliding pulley 40b and mounted on an output shaft 16, and a ribbed variable belt 30 fitted around the pulleys 20, 40. Blades 50 are attached to the inside surface of the sliding pulley 20b. Cooling air introduced through an external air inlet pipe 23 is discharged by the revolution of the blades 50 through outlet ports 31a, 31b provided in the peripheral part of the back plate 29 of a casing. The pulleys 20, 40 and the belt 30 are thus cooled.
