Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve an efficiency of air cooling by a method wherein a fan blade is arranged between the drive plate and the impeller shell and cooled air is supplied from the air flow inlet of the drive plate and the impeller shell.
CONSTITUTION: The impeller shell 7 is fixed to the drive plate 2 with a clearance therebetween G1 and a plurality of radially arranged fan blades 12 acting also as a cooling fin are installed along a radial direction of the outer wall surface of the impeller shell 7. A plurality of air flow inlets 2a are formed at the drive plate 2 and the curved edge 2a' is formed as a fan blade conducting the air into the clearance G1 as the drive plate 2 is rotated. Thus, as the drive plate 2 is rotated, the impeller shell 7 is also rotated to supply the air as cooling air to the air flow inlet 2a of the drive plate 2 and the clearance G1 and thereby the fluid coupling F may efficiently be cooled.
